The Toronto rapper himself also notched his 13th No. 1 album with For All the Dogs
Adonis, Drake’s son, recently made a brief appearance on the song “Daylight” from the Toronto rapper’s most recent album, For All the Dogs. To celebrate his son’s birthday, however, Drake dropped Adonis’s debut solo single, “My Man Freestyle,” over the weekend. Check out Adonis and his pals playing hoops in the music video below.
Drake is now only the third artist in history to have 13 consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, thanks to his release of For All the Dogs. The Beatles (19 No. 1 albums) and Jay-Z (14 No. 1) are the only performers with more No. 1 albums. Drake and Taylor Swift were previously tied at twelve, but with the release of her rerecorded album 1989 on October 27, Swift will have a chance to overtake Drake soon.
Billboard reveals that Drake has also achieved the “largest streaming week of 2023 for any album, and the fourth-largest ever” with 514.01 million on-demand streams of the 23 tracks from For All the Dogs.
Last week, it was reported that Drake may have ended his boycott of the Grammy Awards by submitting his 2022 album Her Loss for consideration. It’s unclear if someone from Drake’s team had submitted the album or someone from his collaborator 21 Savage’s team. Drake has not made an appearance at the Grammy Awards ceremony since 2019 when he took home best rap song for “God’s Plan” and had his acceptance speech cut short.
