Cher and Ed O’Neill Both Resided in This Beverly Hills Retreat Now Listed for $4.1 Million.

Cher’s former Beverly Hills retreat has hit the market with a new lease of life and a $4.1 million price tag.

The mononymous pop icon lived in the recently renovated English-style abode for half a decade after acquiring the place in July 2013 for $2.145 million. She sold it at a slight loss in December 2018 for a hair under $2.1 million to the current owner, a trust, records with PropertyShark show.

But the celebrity pedigree of this home doesn’t end there. Actor Ed O’Neill, famous for his roles on the sitcoms “Married… with Children” and “Modern Family,” owned the property from 1996 until 2007, when he and his wife, Catherine, sold it for $1.9 million, according to records.

“Prospective buyers are often drawn to homes previously owned by celebrities due to the undeniable allure of inhabiting spaces that once belonged to icons,” said listing agent Aneela Zaman of Douglas Elliman, who is handling the sale with colleague Ernie Carswell.

The primary bedroom suite has two fireplaces.

“Such homes are imbued with a certain energy and carry within them the captivating stories of individuals who once graced their halls, hosted memorable gatherings in their gardens, or found inspiration for their artistic endeavors within their walls,” she said.

Built in 1957 and set at the end of a secluded, private road, the four-bedroom home has been “meticulously remodeled,” according to the listing for the home, which hit the market last week.

The result is a residence that “exudes an aura of serenity and tranquility, offering a retreat-like ambiance that makes this home so special,” Zaman said.

Across its almost 3,100 square feet of living space, there are storybook windows, rustic wood beams and fireplaces.

The hub of the home is its light-filled open-plan living, kitchen and dining space. There’s also a sprawling primary bedroom suite with vaulted ceilings, a den, a built-in breakfast nook and French doors that lead outside.

A waterfall can be found in the backyard.

There, “one of the distinctive features that reflect Cher’s personal touch is the presence of a gargoyle fountain nestled in the side courtyard, enclosed by a captivating cast iron Moroccan gate,” Zaman said. “These unique elements not only add to the property’s aesthetic appeal but also serve as nostalgic reminders of Cher’s influence and style.”

The lush and private grounds, surrounded by leafy foliage, also have a lawn, spaces to relax and even a small waterfall trickling down a rock face.
