A FEW LOCAL EVENTS AND KENDRICK VS. DRAKE AND “BRIDGERTON” PARTIES TO DO THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

This Thursday at craft night, tune in to “Bridgerton.” This Thursday, May 23, at DIY Disco, come meet the ladies of Chapeaux.

This Thursday at DIY Disco, Chapeaux Party will have a Bridgerton-themed night. Make a lavish or understated headgear to wear while catching up on the newest episodes of the show. Sip on mocktails or cocktails and create your own headdress.

The program runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. For $28, you can purchase a drink option as well as creative supplies. The address of DIY Disco is 3101 Government St.

This weekend, celebrate at a Memorial Day celebration. Visit the Baton Rouge location of the Crowne Plaza Executive Center from May 24-26 for their Memorial Day Weekend Party, featuring live music and an extensive schedule of entertainment.Chris Pryor and The Main Event will open the event on Friday, May 24. The Remnants will play on Saturday. Terrell Griffin and Velvet Audio, as well as The Drunk Uncles Band, will round off the live music on Sunday. A traditional Sunday cookout with tickets is another option available to attendees, who can dance to the sounds of live jazz.

Witness a battle over the mic this Friday Choose your side of the rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake this Friday, May 24, when Chelsea’s Live hosts Kendrick vs. Drake Night.

This tough battle will pit the two contemporary legends against each other, diving into their greatest hits, lyrical tracks, deep cuts and more. Spin Griffey will be spinning the tracks by the dueling “big two” all night long.

Enjoy a Saturday bike ride in the cool weather. This Saturday, May 25, get on your bike and put on your helmet and knee pads.

This Saturday, Red Stick Farmers Market will host a bike-filled day at the market in collaboration with Front Yard Bikes and Downtown East Social. Young riders from Front Yard Bikes will be out at the farmers market to provide free bike light giveaways from Downtown East Social Ride as well as bike maintenance. Participants can enter a raffle to win a $400 26-inch beach cruiser bike.

At 8 a.m., Bike Fresh, Bike Local begins. The public is welcome to attend this free program. Fifth and Main streets in Baton Rouge’s downtown are the location of the Red Stick Farmers Market.

Visit the Garden of the Flags at the Capitol

The public is invited to view or help plant the 11,000 flags for the local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana‘s annual Garden of the Flags display.

The flags will be marched to the State Capitol Gardens by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. There will also be a ceremony reading of the names of fallen soldiers.
