Sugar Ray Leonard Increases the Cost of His Mansion in Los Angeles

Boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard reduced the asking price of his ivy-covered, Tuscan-style Los Angeles property by $4 million last week, making it just under $40 million.

The eight-bedroom mansion in the city’s Pacific Palisades district was first advertised for $51.995 million in 2019 by the six-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist and his wife, Bernadette Robi. Listing documents indicate that the price has subsequently been reduced multiple times.

“Now the house is becoming an incredible value,” said listing agent Branden Williams of the Beverly Hills Estates. Williams is listing the home with wife and colleague, Rayni, as well as Josh and Matt Altman of the Altman Brothers at Douglas Elliman.

“To find a home on a piece of land like this, in an A-plus location, very rarely comes up, not to mention the celebrity history on this property,” he said.

The expansive property dates back to the 1950s, and the couple purchased it in 1993. With the help of architect Richard Landry, dubbed the “king of the megamansion,” they restored it in the late 1990s to resemble Old World Italian architecture, complete with handcrafted timber features and imported stone. As previously reported by Mansion Global, they are looking to downsize now that their children have grown up and are no longer living at home.

Across its almost 17,000 square feet, the Italianate manse boasts beamed ceilings, stone columns and stately fireplaces, and features include a chef’s kitchen with professional-grade appliances, two islands and a large pantry; a solarium, a two-story galleried family room and a cloistered living room.

There’s also a screening room, a playroom, a game room and a wine cellar, according to the listing.

The home sits on almost 2 acres in the upper Riviera enclave of Pacific Palisades, and the grounds have a pool, a two-story guest house, a lit tennis court with a viewing area and a putting green.

A representative for the boxer, often regarded as one of the greatest of all time, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
