Beyonce‘s mom Tina Knowles is one proud grandmother.
The designer, 70, who compared ‘gracious and beautiful’ Zendaya to her superstar daughter, has opened up about her twin grandchildren Rumi and Sir, who will turn seven on June 13.
In an interview with E! News at the Kentucky Derby, Knowles said the two, who were welcomed into the world by Beyoncé, 42, and Jay-Z, 54, in 2017, were coming into their own.
‘Rumi is amazing—an amazing artist, painter and creator,’ she gushed.
‘How could they be anything else growing up in that environment?’ she asked, answering her own question with ‘All we talk about is creativity and fashion.’

Knowles said Rumi, almost seven, is following in her mom’s and big sister Blue Ivy’s footsteps. ‘Rumi is amazing—an amazing artist, painter and creator,’ she gushed
Rumi recently made music history, appearing on her mom’s Cowboy Carter country album in the track Protector.
The song landed at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the youngest woman to hit the chart.
In doing so, Rumi broke big sister Blue Ivy’s record.
The young singer and dancer, who appeared on Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, was featured on Brown Skin Girl in 2019 when she was only seven years old.
Sir is more like his dad, Jay-Z, Knowles said.
‘Sir is very quiet,’ she explained, and ‘does all of the numbers stuff, so he’s not into fashion as much.’
The House of Deréon founder added the young man is ‘very, very smart.’
Beyoncé, 42, made her own bit of history as the first Black woman to have a number one country hit and album.

‘We’re from Texas,’ Knowles explained about the musical change in direction.
‘We’ve been part of that culture for a long time and I was very excited about it.’
She said Cowboy Carter is a ‘nice history lesson’ for fans.’
‘She has this way of doing things subtly but educating, and so I’m really proud of that.’

The hitmaker who traveled across the globe on her Renaissance tour in 2023, has yet to announce whether she will embark on a Cowboy Carter tour.
In releasing the collection she did disclose she was planning on releasing Cowboy Carter, which was five years in the making, first, but changed her mind during the pandemic shutdown.
‘It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put ‘Cowboy Carter’ out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world,’ she explained, according to Variety.
‘We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.’
