‘I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.’
The Transformers star will portray pharmaceutical sales representative Reagan who sublets Jess’ [Deschanel] room while she is away on jury duty.
Deschanel was absent from taping four episodes last year after giving birth to her first child in August – with the writers accommodating her absence by writing Jess into a sequestered jury, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘The idea behind it was to be able to do those pastel courtroom sketches, so you could still see her in the jury,” Meriweather told THR at the end of last season.
‘It’s a little weird, but we’re having fun with it. It’s a way to have all of the guys check in with her. They watch the news reports on the trial.’
The New Girl episodes will be Fox’s first film or TV project since starring in the box office success Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in August 2014.
