Margot (pictured in 2016) has discussed her love of ice hockey and told how it was her childhood dream to play, but she couldn’t growing up on the warm climes in the Gold Coast

Margot has previously discussed her love for the sport, as she said in a 2016 interview that she was ‘terrible’ at it but enjoyed it all the same.

She told W Magazine at the time: ‘I don’t want to be misleading and make you think I’m really good at ice hockey, I’m terrible, but I really like it.’

She revealed how it was her childhood dream to play ice hockey, but she wasn’t able to due to the balmy climes growing up on the Gold Coast.

‘I’d always wanted to play when I was a kid, but I grew up in the Gold Coast, which is a super tropical place in Australia, and there was no ice hockey so I played field hockey instead,’ she said.

Margot managed to take her love of being on the ice into her career as she portrayed American former figure skater Tonya Harding in 2017 film I, Tonya (pictured in the film)

Then when I moved to America, I joined a league but I didn’t know how to ice skate, I just basically ran around on the ice, but I had so much padding on that it didn’t really matter.

‘You couldn’t hurt yourself if you tried, at least not when you’re playing in an amateur league, but I love it; it’s wicked fun.’

She also revealed that she is not allowed to skate while she is contracted to work due to insurance purposes, so goes large periods of time off the ice.
