Jennifer Lawrence takes on the role of Samantha, the office assistant who Jacob dates for a while after breaking up with Anna.  Lawrence’s role, while little and monotonous, was nevertheless impressive, and she was able to emotionally convey scenes, such as when she broke up with Jacob (only to get back together again later).

Rosalyn Rosenfeld, a character based on Marie Weinberg, is played by Jennifer Lawrence. Christy Lemire of RogerEbert.com gave the film four stars out of four, praising the actress’ role as Rosalyn, with some fans saying that it is one of Lawrence’s best roles. Lawrence was also awarded Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the British Academy Film Awards in 2014.

David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter lauds the actress’ performance, saying that “the chemistry between Cooper and Lawrence makes them a delight to watch, their spiky rapport failing to conceal a mutual attraction.” As a result, the film was able to collect a box office of $236 million, ten times its budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
