The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was named Team MVP.
Although the NFL Honors awards ceremony was held nearly two months ago, the highly respected 101 Awards have been around since 1969 and took place on Friday. It’s the oldest awards ceremony for American football.
Held annually in Kansas City, a committee of 101 national media members vote to name the best offensive and defensive players, as well as coaches, for both conferences.

Since it’s held in Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes made an appearance and said some words. During his speech, he gave a humorous nod to T.J. Watt and his brother J.J., per the Kansas City Star.
I try to stay as far away from that family as possible… And like Rashee (Rice) said, we’re not satisfied and as long as we stay away from T.J. (Watt) and some of those other guys, we’re gonna try to keep this thing rolling.

Watt was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Year at the awards show, but is still one behind his brother. During his speech, Watt gave a bit of a nod to Mahomes as well.
I could see my brother won it four times. I thought it was three, so I’m a little frustrated about that. But it gives me more motivation. And anytime at these award shows, I leave more motivated when I came, and that’s just because I’m surrounded with greatness.”

The Chiefs are in great hands for the next few seasons and beyond.
