The songstress, 26, shared a rare video of herself without her waist-length extensions, causing pandemonium among fans.

In the video Ariana ran her fingers through her thick curly tresses, which were significantly shorter than her signature ponytail.

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘She looks so beautiful and kinda different. iconic hair,’ while another said: ‘Do your hair like this more often’.

A third chimed: ‘Are we ever going to see you on stage with just your natural hair? I really miss your curly hair. I think short hair could be a cute look on you.’

Over the past year, Ariana has experimented with her hairstyle by pulling off a low ponytail for her recent album cover and dyeing the brown locks a platinum blonde, both of which caused a flurry on social media.

The singer previously explained the ponytail was what she felt most comfortable wearing after years of dyeing left her hair extremely damaged.

While her hairstyle has slightly evolved into variations of the ponytail, Ariana said she has no plans for major changes at the moment.

‘The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that,’ she told the magazine. ‘Old pony? I don’t know if she’s that girl. But new pony? I like her.’

Ariana continued: ‘I mean, it’s like a Victoria Secret angel without angel wings. It’s still her without them, but when she’s with them it’s like, “Ohh, I get it, she’s an angel.”‘

To achieve her voluminous ponytail, the singer has resorted to a variety of hair extensions to help the style extend down her back.

She admitted to Teen Vogue only 10 percent of her hair was real after the years of dyeing and incorporating in hair extensions.

While Ariana recognizes the ponytail as her signature style, just like how wings are for Victoria Secret angels, doesn’t mean she won’t switch it up when she wants.

Recently, her platinum blonde color and dabble into the low ponytail style has shown fans that the singer is interested in trying new variations of her signature look.

The singer also recently shared a photo of herself posing with her long brown locks worn sleek and straight around her face; she then accessorized the style with a pair of furry hair clips from one of her favorite brands, Wild and Woolly.
