Real Madrid contract proposal does not satisfy defender; player could be sold this summer

With the summer transfer window starting to appear on the horizon, Real Madrid are sketching out their plans to make adjustments to their squad.

Kylian Mbappe is all set to arrive and the Merengues are also working to sign Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro.

At the same time, there could be some exits on the cards with quite a few players seeing their contracts expire at the end of the season while some players’ deals run out next year.

Ferland Mendy staring at an uncertain future

MARCA has come forward with an update on the future of one such player who might no longer be at Real Madrid come next season in the form of Ferland Mendy.

The 28-year-old Frenchman’s current contract with Los Blancos expires in 2025 and as things stand, the defender is staring at an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As per the report, Real Madrid made a fresh contract proposal for Mendy at one point, although the timeline of when the offer was presented is unclear.

However, the proposal was not up to the expectations of the left-back and was shot down as a result.

Now, though, with his deal expiring in 2025 and the prospect of Alphonso Davies arriving in the summer from Bayern Munich, Mendy could end up being sold.

Saudi Arabia interested

The report states that Mendy is among several Real Madrid players who are attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, as reported previously, clubs in the Premier League have also asked about the French left-back.

So, there appears to be a strong possibility that Mendy is sold at the end of the season by Real Madrid, with the defender having not been satisfied by the contract previously offered by the club.
