Real Madrid consider rewarding winger with new contract and a €1 million salary bump

Brahim Diaz is one of those players who has rightly utilised his time on loan to prove his worth to his parent club. After a successful loan stint at AC Milan, the winger waited patiently for his chance at Real Madrid and has taken it with both hands this season.

Jude Bellingham has been Carlo Ancelotti’s primary attacking midfielder this campaign. Stepping in as a backup in the Englishman’s absence, Diaz shone brilliantly for Los Blancos and is now a regular off the bench, if not a starter.

Eyeing a renewal

According to reports from Cadena SER, Real Madrid are delighted with the winger’s progress this season and see him as one for the long term.

They are thus willing to extend his contract by one season with a salary hike of €1 million as a token of appreciation.

His current deal with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2027, after he signed a contract upon returning from Milan last summer.

As such, the new deal that the club want to offer him would keep him in the Spanish capital until June 2028 on the improved pay scale.

Discussions within the club have been ongoing for at least a month now and is still in the preliminary phase, SER adds. A renewal in the coming months, however, is a real possibility.

The international factor

Earlier this week, Brahim Diaz put an end to a long-standing question over his international future.

The youngster snubbed the Spanish National Team for the country of his origin, Morocco and his decision has had an indirect impact on his situation at Real Madrid.

The Merengues realise that Diaz will be the African nation’s central star for the years to come as opposed to being just one among the crowd in Spain.

If he ends up succeeding with Morocco, he could thus bring in significant revenue from merchandising which Los Blancos see with good eyes.
