Margot Robbie spotted smiling with fans, shopping, and visiting a children’s hospital during Gold Coast visit for AACTA Awards.

Margot Robbie is making the most of her time in the Gold Coast after returning to her native Australia for the 2024 AACTA Awards.

The Hollywood star, 33, has been enjoying some down time on the east coast ahead of Saturday’s star-studded ceremony, which recognises Australian talent.

Margot – who hails from Dalby, Queensland – was seen stopping to take selfies with fans and visiting a children’s hospital during her time Down Under.

On Thursday, the Barbie actress paid a surprise visit to the Queensland Children’s Hospital where she sweetly spent time with young patients on the cancer ward.

The hospital took to Instagram on Friday to give an insight into her visit, sharing a picture of Margot smiling with a star-struck fan and patient named Charlie.

The caption read: ‘Yesterday, one of our families had a very special visitor! During one of her hospital treatment visits, Charlie got to meet Margot Robbie.

‘It’s these special moments that help to bring smiles and laughter to our kids during their cancer journey.’

Elsewhere during her trip, Margot also left locals completely stunned as she was seen milling around the local businesses.

She smiled for selfies with staff at Tommy’s Italian restaurant in Currumbin as she paid a visit to the eatery, before she was snapped by fans shopping in Southport.

Margot has returned Down Under from Los Angeles for the AACTA Awards, which will see Australia’s biggest stars descend on Queensland for the night.

For the first time ever, the Gold Coast has wrestled the prestigious award ceremony away from Sydney in a three-year deal.

This year’s ‘Oscars of Australia’ red carpet will take place in Surfers Paradise at the Home of the Arts (HOTA), with iconic actresses Margot and Cate Blanchett set to attend.

Margot made a solo low-key arrival at Brisbane International Airport last Saturday, one week ahead of the ceremony as she has been making the most of the trip.

Margot – who has recently seen huge success starring in Barbie and producing Saltburn – is set to receive the AACTA Trailblazer Award.

‘Margot Robbie’s impact extends beyond her on-screen performances, as she continues to shape narratives and challenge industry norms,’ the AACTA organisation said.

‘Her commitment to empowering women in film, combined with her talent and business acumen, solidifies Robbie as an influential figure in the entertainment world and a deserved recipient of the 2024 AACTA Trailblazer Award.’

A whole host of awards have already been handed out during an event on Thursday, ahead of the rest of the winners being announced at Saturday night’s glitzy red carpet ceremony.
