She was flawless as Elizabeth I in the film Mary Queen Of Scots, but Aussie actress Margot Robbie, 32 was hardly a shoo-in for the part.
Director Josie Rourke says that due to Margot’s sultry scenes in The Wolf Of Wall Street – in one she was nude – crew members were unconvinced she could play Elizabeth.
At last week’s Power of Film symposium, Josie said: ‘In their heads she was probably lodged more as a 𝑠e𝑥 symbol figure than she was as Elizabeth I. But I made the argument for it.’
Margot might not have transformed Queen Bess into a pin-up… but she did get a Bafta nomination.

Move over crystals, there’s a new health trend in town, with celebrity backers.
Actor Tom Hardy, 45, is investing in Kurk, a firm that promotes the spice curcumin as an anti-inflammatory.
Also investing is rapper Tinie Tempah, 34, and this isn’t the first time the pair have come together for a good cause – Tinie once suggested he would fight the Peaky Blinders star and fellow martial arts fan in a charity ju-jitsu match.
Kurk offers plant-based solutions to inflammation and has already reached 80 per cent of its £350,000 launch target.
