Ian Garry didn’t let a booing crowd bother him at UFC 298.

The divisive Irish welterweight contender picked up a career-best win as he outpointed American power puncher Geoff Neal over three rounds in California on Saturday night.

MMA fans inside the venue were not impressed with the fight, which was a fairly uneventful striking battle that ended with a split-decision win for Garry.

They let ‘The Future’ know how they felt about his performance post-fight.

Boos rang around the Honda Center during Garry’s post-fight interview with UFC legend Joe Rogan – but he insisted they didn’t faze him.

Garry said: “I’m winning, undefeated, living the life. Keep talking, you’re all here watching me.

“I’m living the dream. Whatever you guys say, whatever you think, it means f*** all. I’m here. I’m going to be a champion whether you guys want it or not.”

Garry then proceeded to call out former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington, who is fresh off a decision defeat to 170lb king Leon Edwards.

He added: “There’s one guy I want next and I’ve been saying his name all week… his name is Colby Covington. That guy is on a three-fight skid against world champions, and I want to retire you from the UFC.

“Anywhere. Anytime. [Conor] McGregor and [Michael] Chandler co-main event? I’m in!

“You ain’t ready to deal with my speed, you ain’t ready to deal with the undefeated prospects. I’m going to take you out. I’m going to make you regret everything you’ve said.”

It’s currently unclear when McGregor will return to the Octagon.

MMA’s biggest star hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – but he has been asking for a fight date.

McGregor claimed he will face Chandler on June 29 before UFC CEO Dana White revealed the goal is to book the Irishman’s return in the Autumn.

Garry, who is a fan of McGregor, will almost certainly be willing to wait if it means he’ll finally get to compete on the same card as his idol.

Only time will tell if it’ll be against Covington or another top contender.
