Red Bull team principal Christian Horner could be sacked a replaced by a shock name according to a new report.

Since his appointment as the Team Principal of Red Bull Racing in 2005, Horner has led the Formula One team to over 120 Grand Prix wins, eight Drivers’ Championships and six Constructors’ Championships.

However, things aren’t going quite so well for the Brit this season, as Red Bull are currently sat third in the Constructors’ standings having won just one race this season so far, thanks to star driver Max Verstappen.

According to a new report, this dip in form hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Red bull hierarchy, who are said to be considering sacking Horner in the near future to replace him with a name that nobody would expect.

With the Red Bull car clearly inferior to McLaren’s this season and Liam Lawson being kicked out of the team and replaced by Yuki Tsunoda after his lacklustre start, the 2025 season has not gone well for the Red Bull chief so far.

But things could be about to change for Horner and Red Bull, as it is believed that the F1 team will be bringing new upgrade plans to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.

But, according to Italian outlet AutoSprint, Horner could lose the support of the Thai shareholding of Red Bull if these upgrade plans fail to noticeably transform the team’s competitiveness for the remainder of the season.

Thai businessman Chalerm Yoovidhya and his family currently hold 51 percent of Red Bull GmbH, with the other 49 percent held by Mark Mateschitz, meaning if Horner were to lose his support, it would place his future in serious doubt

The report continues to claims that, should Red Bull decide to part ways with Horner, then they will look to replace him with former Alpine team boss Oli Oakes, who is seen as having similar parallels to Horner’s early career.

In a massive shake up earlier this week, Alpine announced that Oakes had resigned from the team, while the driver lineup changed as Franco Colapinto was promoted, taking Jack Doohan’s race seat.

However, PlanetF1 has hit back at these rumours, stating that their sources have dismissed the speculation surrounding Horner’s position, viewing the current dip in form as a short-term issue that is not a concern to shareholders.
