Not the first time he’s committed such an offense
Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, found himself in legal trouble once again as he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Texas, marking his third such offense or more.
The 53-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday night, as reported by TMZ, with bond expected to be set later. This incident isn’t the first time Mahomes Sr. has faced DUI charges.

He was previously arrested in 2019 for DUI, resulting in a sentence of 40 days in jail. However, he served this time on weekends, adhering to the conditions of his punishment.
The timing of this latest arrest couldn’t be more precarious, given that his son is on the brink of competing in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. The younger Mahomes, a rising star in the NFL, is poised to lead his team in one of the most significant sporting events of the year.

Sharing a suite with Taylor Swift
Mahomes Sr. has been in the spotlight recently for reasons beyond his son’s football prowess. Just weeks ago, he made headlines for jesting that he wouldn’t sit next to Taylor Swift at the AFC Conference Championship game.
“I hope not,” he joked with WFAN Sports Radio’s Evan Roberts when asked if he’ll share a suit with Swift.
“No, I don’t think so. Travis normally has his own thing and Patrick has his own deal too,”
“And I imagine if Taylor wants her own suite, she’s got enough money to get whichever one she wants.”
Now, with his legal troubles, it remains uncertain whether he will even be able to attend the Super Bowl to support his son on February 11.
Super Bowl LVIII between Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers kicks off at 17:30 Central on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
