Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce dropped a golden nugget about his relationship with girlfriend Taylor Swift on Wednesday.
Amid ongoing speculation about when Kelce’s relationship with Swift exactly started, the Chiefs tight end set the facts straight in a guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Kelce and Swift were first publicly pictured together at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs-Bears game on Sep. 24. However, as many fans have since surmised, that’s not when their relationship technically began. “We knew each other for close to a month [before she came to that first game],” Kelce told McAfee. “It wasn’t just out of the blue, ‘Hey, come to the game.’”
The Eras Tour pop star herself said back in December that “by the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” so Kelce’s words only confirm what Swifties had already suspected.
Kelce also briefly addressed the “cranky NFL fans” who have sour opinions on his relationship, saying, “You know what? We’re slowly reeling them in. They’re fighting it right now.”
Given the fact that Taylor Swift was only shown on-air for 44 seconds during the AFC championship game, amounting to just 0.39% of the entire broadcast, those fans hardly have anything to complain about.
So, there you have it. The star couple had been acquainted for nearly a month before their first public appearance, and by Kelce’s account, he’s just enjoying the “crazy ride.”
“It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” continued Kelce. “Hopefully everybody realizes that we’re two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it. It’s nothing more than that. I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing but a wonderful year.”
