Now that Amazon has taken over the James Bond franchise, Christopher Nolan’s directing chances have increased. Until a recent announcement, the Broccoli family had creative control over the Bond franchise. Following Daniel Craig’s departure from the series after No Time to Die, the search was underway for a new 007 actor, but updates were slow on Bond 26. This shifted this week when it was announced that Amazon MGM Studios, who now owns veteran Bond distributor MGM, would take creative control over the franchise. Now, a report from Puck says that legendary director Nolan is a higher possibility after the Amazon switch. Puck’s Matt Belloni mentioned that the main barrier to Nolan directing in the past was the Broccoli’s.
With Amazon in control, he speculates that Nolan would be the frontrunner for the directing gig. He believes that Amazon MGM Studios giving Nolan free rein and a large theatrical window akin to his 120-day deal with Universal would be worth it, as it would guarantee a hit.
