Fans spot striking tattoo similarity between Ilia Topuria’s brother and Conor McGregor ahead of UFC 312

Following the huge success of Ilia Topuria in becoming the UFC featherweight champion and subsequently one of the promotion’s biggest stars, Aleksandre Topuria will look to replicate that success.

His UFC tenure begins this Saturday at UFC 312 when he takes on teammate of Alexander Volkanovski, Colby Thicknesse.

Ahead of Aleksandre’s debut, one of the main talking points has been around Ilia and Volkanovski once again facing off but this time, as coaches in opposing corners.

Fans notice huge similarity between Aleksandre Topuria and Conor McGregor

‘El Conquistador’ who is two years older than Ilia, is said by many to have a bigger ceiling than his brother, and ahead of his debut, he has claimed that he could beat the UFC featherweight champion.

With Ilia growing in stardom, he has continuously been compared to former UFC double champion, Conor McGregor.

Not only has Topuria drawn comparisons to McGregor and been accused of copying the Irish superstar but the two have previously feuded online.

However, Ilia isn’t the only one to have been accused of copying ‘The Notorious’ as ahead of his debut outing in the UFC, fans have noticed one huge similarity between Aleksandre and McGregor.

As is Ilia, the 29-year-old is covered in tattoos, and fans have noticed he has an almost identical tattoo to McGregor, going from the top of his neck all the way down his spine.

Throughout his career, McGregor’s tattoos have become iconic, especially the Silverback Gorilla on his chest. The tattoo running down the Irishman’s spine depicts a helix of thorns and above that is a winged crucifix.

Fans react to Aleksandre Topuria’s similarity to McGregor

Many fighters before Aleksandre have been accused of trying to copy ‘The Notorious’, however, none have such a similarity.

“McGregor has a significant influence in MMA, and it’s natural for some fighters to express their respect for him in various ways, such as tattoos that reflect his style,” one fan commented.

“It’s definitely not a coincidence. At first I thought it was just a younger photo of Conor. That being said, I can’t stand when people try to imitate someone else down to every last detail,” another fan said.

Not only have fighters been accused of copying McGregor’s look but many have also been accused of trying to copy his fight style.

The Georgian bantamweight will hope to emulate McGregor’s early success in the UFC as he looks to make his way toward the top of the division and capture a title alongside his brother.

“They both have a weird obsession with him. Imagine both brothers getting almost matching tattoos to him. Kind of creepy,” another fan commented about both Topuria brothers’ tattoos.
