Conor McGregor is back throwing leather, but his latest training footage hasn’t sparked any excitement from MMA fans.
McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since breaking his leg in his trilogy bout defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

That bout marked a second consecutive defeat for the Irishman in Dana White’s promotion, as he had also lost to Poirier six months prior.
This followed his highly anticipated comeback to the UFC after a 13-month hiatus to fight Donald Cerrone in early 2020.
McGregor had returned to MMA following his famous submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 to lock horns with ‘Cowboy’.
And he stopped him 40 seconds into the first round of their main event clash at UFC 246, which would mark his final UFC victory to date, and potentially his last ever.
He has now posted a few training videos of himself landing several blows on a punching bag, reminiscent of his UFC heyday, but many fans were left unimpressed by the footage.
One took to X and said: “Stiff as a board.”
While another added: “Precision beats power and timing beats speed my friend. Have you forgotten who you were?”
A third said, ‘Finished fighter,’ while another called out McGregor for being the ‘most active non-fighter’ they’ve ever seen.
Others responded to the footage in more optimistic fashion, saying they ‘hope’ to see ‘The Notorious’ back in the Octagon once again.
Although he has been out of action for 42 months, McGregor has remained a prominent figure in the combat sports world.

He is a co-owner of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and has been actively involved in promoting the league’s events over the past few months.
The 36-year-old was present at BKFC in Newcastle last November, and squared off with former UFC fighter Jeremy Stephens after his upset over Eddie Alvarez in the promotion’s biggest event to date, KnuckleMania V, in January.
McGregor also appeared to spit on the face of a fan at the beginning of this month in retaliation to a comment about his fight with Khabib.
UFC President White, who is usually optimistic about McGregor’s return, poured doubts on his former stars’ long-awaited comeback fight at the beginning of this month.
“Conor? I’m not sure when Conor will be back,” he sighed at UFC Saudi Arabia’s post-fight press conference.
McGregor stunned combat sports fans after posing for photos last month with Jake Paul and Logan Paul, who has been rumoured to fight the Irishman in a $500million boxing fight in India this year.

McGregor said in December that he was in ‘preliminary agreement’ to face Logan, 29, in a boxing exhibition match.
He has since continued to stir the spot further by commenting on the potential bout on various social media platforms, with reports also suggesting that he was interested in a fight with influencer boxer KSI.
White, who is still his boss, has asserted that McGregor will not fight KSI or Logan.
However, should McGregor return to his primary sport, MMA, and see out his UFC contract with two more final fights, his opportunities would be endless.
McGregor’s comeback also hasn’t been helped by other recent controversies.
He lost a civil assault case in November relating to an incident in hotel in Dublin in December 2018.
The claimant, Nikita Hand, who accused McGregor of raping her, was awarded over £200,000 in damages by a jury at Dublin’s High Court.
As a result, several brands and sponsors, including Tesco, SuperValue, Centra and Costcutter distanced themselves from McGregor.
