Is Russell Wilson’s time in Pittsburgh over? What’s next after the Steelers?

NFL insider drops a bombshell on Wilson’s future while Pittsburgh weighs its options

Russell Wilson’s Exit from Pittsburgh Feels Inevitable-So Where’s He Going?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the offseason with a big question at quarterback. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both remain on the roster, but it’s becoming clear that only one of them will be in Pittsburgh come September. With free agency just around the corner, the team has some tough decisions to make.

Wilson was expected to be the guy. A veteran with Super Bowl pedigree, he had the experience to steady the ship. But after a rough final stretch of the season, his stock took a nosedive. Five games, too many mistakes, and suddenly, Pittsburgh wasn’t so sure he was the answer. Meanwhile, Fields was benched despite the team’s offensive struggles, making it clear he wasn’t seen as the fix either.

Now, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer has weighed in, and he doesn’t see Wilson coming back to Pittsburgh“I don’t think that’s gonna happen, either. I think you’ll see a new start for Russell somewhere,” Glazer said on FOX’s pregame show. Given Glazer’s close ties with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, this isn’t just speculation-it’s a major signal that Pittsburgh is ready to move on.

But if not Pittsburgh, then where? Some thought a reunion with Pete Carroll in Las Vegas might be in the cards, but Glazer shut that down, too. “That ain’t going to happen,” he said. The Raiders seem to be looking elsewhere for their next quarterback, leaving Wilson without an obvious landing spot.

Wilson vs. Steelers coaching staff: A tense standoff

Then there’s the issue with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Wilson’s habit of changing plays at the line of scrimmage reportedly clashed with Smith’s run-heavy game plan. But CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala isn’t buying it, suggesting Wilson’s camp is trying to control the narrative. “There’s just not a market for Wilson’s services right now,” she said, calling the report a “desperate ploy.”

With Wilson seemingly on his way out, Fields could get a shot-but Glazer isn’t so sure. “I don’t think they know who their starting quarterback will be yet,” he admitted. That uncertainty could push the Steelers toward a new option in the draft or free agency.

Whatever happens, Pittsburgh’s quarterback carousel isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Expect more twists and turns before the dust settles on this offseason saga.
