Conor McGregor is still going at Paul Hughes days after he decided to go after his fellow Irishman for his post-fight comments.
Hughes was narrowly defeated by Usman Nurmagomedov on Saturday night in what has been widely called the greatest PFL fight of all time. And afterwards was caught on camera telling McGregor’s fiercest rival Khabib Nurmagomedov that he is ‘not like this other guy’.
This enraged the former two-weight UFC champion, who after initially praising Hughes’ performance has become his number one enemy on social media. And despite the PFL star seemingly putting the beef behind him, McGregor has been obsessed for the past three days.
Paul Hughes told Khabib Nurmagomedov he is ‘not like’ Conor McGregor in post-fight moment
After a five round war with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin Usman for the Bellator lightweight title on Saturday in Dubai, Paul Hughes paid his respects to the opposite corner. Anatomy of a Fighter was recording a behind the scenes documentary, and caught a number of key moments on camera.
Since everything seems to be taken out of context. Can anyone tell me is there anything wrong with this beautiful clip of solidarity in MMA? #PFLDubai pic.twitter.com/kNtbd03ArN

One particular piece of footage that got fans talking on social media showed him speaking with Khabib and assuring him that he’s not like ‘the other guy’, referring to McGregor. He explained that he is his own man, essentially distancing himself from one of MMA’s most bitter feuds.
It came after the fight had been built and sold as Ireland vs Dagestan 2, essentially piggybacking on the ugly scenes that took place in 2018 when Khabib and McGregor fought. But it seemed for the most part and if Usman and Hughes had solved the issue between the two nations
Conor McGregor continues to send abuse to Paul Hughes days after feud began
This piece of footage drove Conor McGregor wild, and sent him into a frenzy of abusive social media posts that is continuing days after it was leaked. He began by shredding Hughes for his identity, declaring that he “knows what you are c*** from up there”.
McGregor was referencing that Hughes is from Derry, which carries a long and brutal history in Ireland’s battle for independence despite technically falling under the jurisdiction of Northern Ireland today. The comment was widely condemned in Ireland, and he has somewhat walked it back.
However, he continues to go after Hughes, and as recently as last night took to social media to continue his now days-long onslaught. He has already deleted the post, which showed an old post from Hughes where he mocked Nurmagomedov pre-fight for being ‘made famous’ by McGregor.
“And guess what little scutter, that goes for you too,” McGregor wrote in another angry tweet. “P****. Turn coat p****. Just wait and see ? Wait and see what? Falling short on every shot? F***ing p****!” He also branded Hughes’ ‘F***ing pathetic’ for what he said to Nurmagomedov.
