Russell Wilson announces his decision regarding his NFL future.

Russell Wilson’s 2024 NFL season came to an end on Saturday evening.

The Steelers were crushed by the Ravens, 28-14, in the Wild Card Round. This is Pittsburgh’s sixth straight playoff loss. The heat is turning up on head coach Mike Tomlin.

“I’m just assessing what transpired tonight,” Tomlin said. “As I told you guys earlier in the week, those are my bags, not this collective’s bags. And so my energy is on that group in there and what they were willing to give and the journey that we’ve been on this year and certainly it came to a disappointing end tonight.”

For Wilson, the 2025 NFL offseason could be a big one. The 36-year-old NFL quarterback’s future is up in the air. It’s possible that the Steelers could choose to move on from the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

But Wilson made his preference clear.

Wilson announced that he will be returning for his Age 37 season in 2025. And he hopes that is with the Steelers.

The former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback admitted that this was one of the most fun seasons of his career.

“Obviously, I hope I’m here,” Wilson told reporters after Saturday night’s loss. “I trust God, whenever that is. And it’s a special, special place. And I know God brought me here for a reason.”

Wilson made it clear that he’s not considering retirement.

“I’ve got so much more ball left in me,” Wilson told reporters on Saturday evening.

The Steelers could have options at quarterback in 2025, though none of them are obvious and great. Pittsburgh could look to bring back Wilson, give Justin Fields a chance or take a look at a quarterback in the NFL Draft or via free agency.

Pittsburgh has a lot of questions to answer this offseason, starting with decisions on their head coach and their quarterback.
