Meghan Markle has been spotted at an awards ceremony showcasing her impeccable fashion sense in a stunning black gown – without Prince Harry at her side.
Her red carpet appearance came as the Duke broke his silence on unwarranted speculation about his relationship with the Duchess.
This week, A German documentary titled Harry: The Lost Prince aired this week, criticising Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, particularly their high-profile visits to impoverished countries in contrast with Meghan’s designer wardrobe.
Russell Myers, the Mirror’s Royal Editor, commented on the programme: “If you’re going to places like Nigeria, like Colombia, which have huge socio-economic problems, some of the world’s poorest communities in these countries, and you’re turning up wearing tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes – it really doesn’t send the right message.”
Meghan attended the event in California alone, while Harry was at the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit thousands of miles away. When asked about rumours of his marriage ending, the Prince simply laughed it off.
Meanwhile, Meghan, 43, arrived at the Tyler Perry awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, California, today, once again dressed in designer attire. The former Suits actress attended the star-studded gala while Harry, 40, was at the New York Times DealBook Conference, thousands of miles away.
Meghan Markle, dressed in a stylish black floor-length gown with a sweetheart neckline, showcased her fashion prowess at an event recently. The Duchess completed her look with a pair of black Stuart Weitzman heels and a silver Logan Hollowell necklace, opting for a natural makeup look and a neat up-do, reports The Mirror.
Despite the outfit being less eye-catching than some of her previous ensembles, Meghan’s classic elegance ensured she looked every bit the supportive friend as she celebrated Tyler Perry’s significant achievement. Perry, who is also godfather to Princess Lilibet, was honoured by The Paley Center for Media for his outstanding contributions to the media industry over the past three decades.
However, Meghan’s glamorous appearance on the red carpet alongside her close friend contrasted sharply with the recent controversies surrounding her and Prince Harry.
The controversial documentary “Harry: The Lost Prince,” which aired earlier this week, saw millions tune in. Featured in the programme, Ben McBean—a veteran soldier who suffered devastating injuries from a landmine in Afghanistan in 2008—expressed dismay over Prince Harry’s remarks about his family.
McBean, who once shared a flight with Harry from Afghanistan, didn’t mince words: “I just thought, with him kind of whinging about his family and he was saying something about his brother pushing him over or something like that, I was just like, ‘Mate, just leave it out’… You and your brother had a little fisticuffs…but family’s family, you know.”
“If one of my friends fell out with his partner and started posting things on social media and saying my ex is this and that, I’d have told him to shut up as well.”
In a further blow, the documentary criticizes Harry and Meghan for their inability to integrate with the rich neighbours in California’s Montecito, where they reside with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Jack Royston of The Royal Report echoed sentiments on the Sus𝑠e𝑥es’ failed approach to being “half in and half out” of the Royal Family—a concept reportedly rebuked by the late Queen.
He stated: “If you have a situation where Harry and Meghan are earning huge amounts of money in Hollywood trading off their reputations, but then they’re also bolstering their reputations by working for the Queen – they’re able to present themselves on the world stage as being these working members of the royal family who are also available for a price.”
He added, “That is a huge compromise to demand off the monarchy. If they were to be perceived to be promoting their commercial projects while representing the Queen, then that’s also… starting to border on corruption there because they should never be using the monarchy as a platform.”
