Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s performance as Simon Williams is fantastic, even though the original Wonder Man footage didn’t showcase the eponymous character’s true superhuman abilities. After making his debut in Iron Man 3 in 2013, Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery quickly became one of my favorite characters, so I was also excited to see him return to the MCU. I’m thrilled to see Wonder Man enter the MCU because he’s one of the most important and powerful characters in Marvel Comics, and the new series footage has just increased my excitement.

It’s unclear how faithfully Marvel Studios will adapt Wonder Man’s origin story. In Marvel Comics, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man after being enhanced by Baron Heinrich Zemo. He is sent to infiltrate the Avengers and lure them into a trap, but he ends up saving and joining the superhero team instead. I can’t wait to see Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Simon Williams receive his powers and become an actor in the upcoming series, which promises to be a fast-paced and exhilarating debut for Wonder Man that could even connect him to other MCU heroes.
