With Emma Stone playing the sly and fashionable villain again, Disney’s Cruella 2 is now in development. Craig Gillespie is the director of the follow-up, which continues where the 2021 hit left off by exploring Estella’s transformation into the legendary Cruella de Vil. This time, the narrative delves into the competitive realm of international fashion, as Cruella engages in a glitzy yet ruthless struggle for dominance with a rival designer, played by Margot Robbie.
Set against the backdrop of 1980s London, Cruella 2 promises a mix of dark humor, bold visuals, and a killer soundtrack. New faces join the cast, including Taron Egerton as a rebellious fashion prodigy, while Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry return as Cruella’s loyal accomplices, Horace and Jasper.
With its focus on power, betrayal, and ambition, the film aims to expand Cruella’s backstory while paying homage to her origins in 101 Dalmatians. Cruella 2 is slated for release in 2025.
