Meghan Markle is a self-confessed foodie and would often share her favourite recipes on her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig which she closed shortly after meeting Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sus𝑠e𝑥 has previously revealed some of her staple meals and rules she swears by that have contributed to a healthier and happier life.
One rule she always follows is never skipping breakfast, and being the foodie she is, she also enjoys one meal more than the rest.
The mum-of-two said she tends to get hungrier at lunchtime so eats something heavier then, which is her favourite meal of the day.
But Meghan doesn’t wait until dinner – which tends to be lighter – to eat again, as she munches on healthy snacks during the day, including peanut butter apple slices.
Royal biography Finding Freedom revealed exactly what the Duchess eats in the morning. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote: “Her morning ritual started with a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon, followed by her favourite breakfast of steel-cut oats (usually made with almond or soy milk) with bananas and agave syrup for sweetness.”
Meghan is also partial to an omlette, which she makes with cheese, fresh herbs and a side of toast.
According to Hello! the Duchess once revealed why lunch time is her favourite: “I’m always hoping I’m having lunch with people, so we can share fries. It’s its own food group for me.”
Now living in California with Prince Harry with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Duke and Duchess enjoy a very health-conscious, ethical diet.
For most of the week, Meghan avoids eating meat and dairy products. “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends,” she told Best Health in 2015.
“But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.”
