Conor McGregor wants to see Anthony Joshua focus on revenge against Daniel Dubois.

Joshua was stunned by world champion Dubois in their world title clash, as he was dropped four times en route to a devastating stoppage defeat.

AJ called for an immediate sequel and it was targeted to take place on a mega card in February in Saudi Arabia.

But that appears to be now delayed with Joshua unable to make the date after suffering minor injuries, so ‘Dynamite’ will now make a voluntary defence of his title.

Despite it now appearing Joshua will wait before pencilling in his next move, UFC superstar McGregor believes he is best positioned to get redemption.

“I thought there was a lot of tension during [Joshua’s] walk out,” McGregor told talkSPORT.

“He was very well warmed up, maybe too warmed up if anything. So I wasn’t so surprised fair play to Dubois.

“I thought Joshua did some good things as well but he made errors when he got excited and started to put the back hand on him.

“But I’m excited to see that one go again. He has shown in the past that he can put corrections in place and make amends like he did in that Ruiz fight.

“I’d like to see him have another go. Dubois was phenomenal on the night and it will be a tough ask for Anthony but if anyone can do it it’s AJ.”

The Irishman knows all too well the importance of rematches, having fought in many during his UFC career.

McGregor’s most famous revenge bid came in 2016 when he avenged the first defeat of his career to Nate Diaz six months later.

McGregor was ringside for AJ’s defeat and had been extremely animated during the fight.

He scoffed at calls for Joshua to retire afterwards, insisting the British heavyweight has more to give.

Despite McGregor’s plea, it appears the former two-time world champion will wait before sealing his next move.

This will be to see if he can finally settle his rivalry with Tyson Fury, who is in action in his own revenge bid against Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.

Joshua still has one fight remaining on his deal with Saudi sporting event series Riyadh Season, and could still be thrust into some big nights yet.

Former world champion Tony Bellew is more interested in a potential clash against Zhilei Zhang or Fury, than seeing the sequel.

He said: There are a few. I want to see him face Zhilei Zhang and see how that goes.

“I think that could have been a brilliant fight.

“There are so many fights out there. I want to obviously see him face Tyson Fury.

“Do I want to see a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk? Potentially, yes.

“I’ve seen him perform absolutely brilliantly against Wladimir Klitschko. I’ve seen him perform absolutely fantastically against numerous fighters and then I’ve also seen him not perform to the best of his ability.

“The Martin Bakole fight doesn’t really tickle my fancy. I don’t think he’s anything special and he’s not great to watch.

“I don’t know to be totally honest. There’s only Fury, and Usyk that are really relevant.”
