Henry Cavill, who portrayed Superman in the now-canceled DCEU, also adores him. The actor noticed some creative fan art that portrayed Cavill as Captain Britain. He later said that he had seen the fan art and felt it would be nice to portray Captain Britain when asked if he would have a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cavill cited Chris Evans’ “modernized” portrayal of Captain America as an inspiration for his own portrayal of Brian Braddock. Although Cavill was still bound by Warner Brothers at the time of the interview, the conclusion of the DCEU has allowed him to take up the role of Captain Britain.

While fans wait to see if this bit of dream casting comes to life, Marvel has positioned Captain Britain as a major player in the new Ultimate universe. Thor is a powerful hero, no matter what world it is, and this version of Captain Britain was nearly able to kill the God of Thunder. This is a major step up for Captain Britain, who while being depicted as powerful in the past, was hardly a god-killer. Ultimate Universe #1 establishes a new, more deadly status quo for Captain Britain, making Henry Cavill’s dream MCU character more than a match for Thor.
