Train Frontman Pat Monahan Lists Stunning Seattle-Area Lake House for $8.2 Million

Pat Monahan, the lead singer of the band Train, has listed his home on Lake Sammamish in Issaquah, Washington—some 17 miles east of Seattle—for just under $8.2 million.

When the “Drops of Jupiter” singer and his wife, Amber Peterson, bought the home in 2011 for $2.95 million, “there was not much there,” Monahan said. “We did a lot of remodeling, and we took the bulkhead down to turn it into a proper beach, which is better for the environment.”

The house spans 5,537 square feet over three levels and has features including fir-wrapped beams and natural stone, a great room, a wine cellar, a heated deck, five bedrooms and an elevator—one of Monahan’s favorite features—“which I use when bringing cases of wine to the wine cellar or bringing bags up to the bedrooms after traveling,” he said.

Out on the lakefront, the beach is joined by a private dock and a river rock fire pit.

The couple “have poured their hearts into this house creating a home where family and friends gather to celebrate,” said listing agent Todd Rauch of Windermere Real Estate/Luxury Portfolio International. “Their love of the Northwest can be seen throughout.”

The house is located close to Lake Sammamish’s sunken forest—an ancient thick of trees submerged under part of the lake—“so we never have fast boats going by. It’s very quiet in that part of the lake,” Monahan explained. “It’s going to be hard to leave our house. We have so many incredible memories of raising our kids there. There is a lot of good luck, warmth and positive energy there.”
