National Treasure 3, starring Nicolas Cage, has been formally announced by Disney, continuing the quest to uncover history’s greatest secrets. Benjamin Franklin Gates returns, and the stakes are higher than ever, some twenty years after the previous movie’s premiere.

In National Treasure 3, Gates embarks on his most dangerous quest yet—a global search for a mythical artifact believed to hold the key to untold power. The new installment promises to take audiences across continents, from the mysterious pyramids of Egypt to the hidden temples of South America.

Director Jon Turteltaub returns to helm the project, with Jerry Bruckheimer once again producing. The film will reunite the original cast, including Diane Kruger as Dr. Abigail Chase and Justin Bartha as the tech-savvy Riley Poole. New additions to the cast include Helen Mirren, who will portray a rival treasure hunter, and Taron Egerton as a young historian eager to make his mark.
