Officially, Andy Cohen Has Given Up His Vibrant West Village Treasures

The era of Andy Cohen living in his eccentric two-story West Village, New York City apartment—which we showcased on the cover of our October 2017 issue—is coming to an end. With the location, Cohen has really started a journey: he first purchased the ground floor of the duplex in 2003 and has subsequently taken up three more adjacent flats. The end product is colorful, airy, and in need of a new owner. Is that you, perhaps? According to People magazine, the listing—entrusted to Ryan Serhant, a TV personality, real estate broker, and Cohen’s friend—will be made public later this month. Prepare your $14 million.

It’s easy to assume that Cohen is full of energy, both creatively and otherwise, given his roles as executive producer of The Real Housewives, radio personality, host of a late-night talk show, and father of two. With its daring design elements like a Roy Lichtenstein lithograph, jewel-toned kitchen cabinets, a powder room embraced by mylar wallpaper, a gold disco ball light fixture, and the staircase that hangs above (made of glass, walnut, and steel by architect Gordon Kahn), the interiors of his 2 Horatio Street home are a testament to just that.

Cohen said to ELLE DECOR that he felt like a king when he was in his 3,500 square foot mansion. Who wouldn’t? The furnishings, chosen by ELLE DECOR A-List mainstay Eric Hughes, are full of well-known brands like Ralph Lauren, ABC Carpet & Home, and Hollywood at Home. The views are so breathtaking that they will make you stop in your tracks and thank your lucky stars (“The light in this apartment is phenomenal,” Cohen said in 2017). The overall atmosphere that all of this creates is immediately suitable for a party.

In fact, even though Cohen hardly cooked in his kitchen—which features walnut counters, dual exposure, and a non-tacky floral wallpaper—he routinely hosted a number of his famous best friends became neighbors. If the duplex’s bells and whistles aren’t enough to convince you to take out a loan in the amount of $14 million, perhaps the star-studded credentials of Anderson Cooper, John Benjamin Hickey, Joe Mantello, Sarah Jessica Parker, and others would.

Attracted by the charm of the New York area and his on-the-job obligations in the Big Apple, Cohen isn’t going too far—the New York Times reports that it’s only a four-minute walk away. According to the Times, “he paid more than $18 million for this [new home], which is a penthouse with 3,000 square feet inside and a 2,000-square-foot terrace.”

Does it, however, possess the same explosive personality as Cohen’s previous West Village home? It needs to be ascertained.
