Reese Witherspoon Sells English Country-Style L.A. Home for $21.5 Million

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon has sold a Los Angeles home for $21.5 million, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The sale represents a significant uptick in the value of the gated Brentwood estate: a trust tied to Ms. Witherspoon paid $15.895 million for the property in 2020, records show.

 

The house, a traditional English country-style estate in the lower Mandeville Canyon area, came on the market for $25 million in early March and found a buyer in less than a month, according to the listings website Zillow. Ms. Witherspoon renovated the circa 1990s house after buying it. She couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The roughly 3-acre property has a private driveway surrounded by heavy landscaping, according to the listing. The house has classic stonework and Tudor detailing, A formal two-story entry foyer has black-and-white marble and limestone flooring. The house also has a white-oak staircase and a family room with a four-seat bar, according to the listing. The second floor includes an “owner’s wing,” where the primary suite has two bathrooms and two walk-in closets. French doors open to the garden, which includes a bar, a pool and spa area and a limestone barbecue, the listing says.

 

Graham J. Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing, while Danny Brown of Compass represented the buyer.

Ms. Witherspoon, who rose to fame with starring roles in movies like “Election,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Legally Blonde,” has more recently developed a reputation as a Hollywood producer through the company she founded, Hello Sunshine, which has produced shows like “Big Little Lies,” “Little Fires Everywhere” and “The Morning Show.”
