Jennifer Lawrence’s plunging black gown echoes vintage Hollywood

Jennifer Lawrence perfected a classic red-carpet look for her Saturday night out in New York City.

She looked every bit a Hollywood starlet to attend the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards, in a plunging black Alaïa number. Complete with a dramatically high slit, the halterneck dress revealed a sliver of skin all the way down to the actor’s belly button, bringing attention to its ruched waist and flowing skirt. The back of the gown – or rather, lack of it – was equally revealing, with cutouts on each side.

A thigh-high slit in the front of the dress allowed Lawrence’s left leg to stick out, showcasing a pair of sleek black patent -leather heels. The No Hard Feelings star accessorized with a coordinating black clutch and a trio of diamond hoops in each ear.

Matching the Old Hollywood energy of her gown, J-Law wore her blonde hair in bouncy curls with a sweeping side part, which exhibited an additional gold ear cuff on her left ear. She finished off her glam with a smoky brown eye shadow, bronzed skin, and a glossy pink lip.

At the event, hosted by Ketel One Family Made Vodka, Lawrence gushed over her “favorite musician and good friend Orville Peck,” who received the Vito Russo Award. “I love seeing so many humans who can top their field while still being power bottoms,” the actor joked, according to Billboard, before sharing a story about how she once fell in love with a gay man. “Conversion therapy doesn’t work. Did you hear me, Mike Pence?” she said, calling out the former U.S. vice president. “I said conversion therapy is not real – even though you think it worked on you.”
