Chael Sonnen offers a surprising new POV on Conor McGregor’s return: “I believe he has humbled himself”

Conor McGregor’s long-awaited UFC comeback remains shrouded in uncertainty despite the Irishman’s persistent pleas for a December fight. While UFC CEO Dana White has publicly dismissed the possibility of a McGregor fight this year, former UFC contender Chael Sonnen has offered a fresh perspective on the situation.

During a recent episode of the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, Sonnen suggested that McGregor might be more sincere about his comeback than previously thought.

“Dana has been very clear in the last two weeks that Conor McGregor is not fighting this year. [Dana] said, ‘He’s [McGregor] not fighting this year but he [McGregor] is blowing me up he does want to fight in December, we’ll see what happens. If I get a right sign I will make an announcement.”

He further added:

“I think the story of Conor has being a little bit mold in this way I believe him I believe that he wants to fight I believe he is going behind the scenes. So he loves to faint power. He loves to let people know, ‘It’s all my decision.’ I believe he has humbled himself to say I need the organization to sign off on this”

Michael Chandler declares Conor McGregor era over amidst UFC return speculation

Michael Chandler has seemingly drawn a line under his long-awaited rivalry with Conor McGregor following UFC CEO Dana White’s confirmation that the Irishman will not fight this year. Chandler’s patience for a potential matchup has worn thin, as evidenced by his recent social media post.

In a recent X post, Chandler declared that the sport will continue to flourish without McGregor, suggesting that the former champion has overestimated his impact on the UFC.

“Ah conor, the sport will move on and thrive without you. Put to bed. Laid to rest. Soon a distant memory. You’ve vastly overestimated your importance inside of this game for almost a decade. Godspeed.”
