Scarlett Johansson’s anticipated Oscar appearance raises eyebrows after her father’s dramatic fall sparks concern in New York City.

Actress Scarlett Johansson may have to cancel her appearance at Sunday’s Academy Awards after her father took a painful spill in New York’s West Village that has left him in hospital with a giant gash in his face.

The Lost in Translation star’s architect father Karsten Johansson, 67, fell face first onto Charles Street near his West Village home after his legs gave way around 9:30 Wednesday night.

A server from nearby restaurant Casa La Femme, along with the doorman at 140 Charles Street, witnessed the incident and rushed to the Danish-born Johansson’s side.

‘Family members stated he’s suffered from an aneurism in the past,’ one source told the New York Post.

His famous daughter Scarlett was in Los Angeles at the time of the incident. It remains unclear whether she will be seen at Sunday’s Oscar telecast or if she will be at her father’s side in New York.

Karsten Johansson and Melanie Sloan, who is Scarlett’s mother and manager, divorced 13 years ago. In addition to her sister Vanessa, Scarlett also has a twin brother, Hunter.
