A Beverly Hills, California, megamansion that was once home to Gene Simmons has a new look—and it’s back on the market for $48 million, which is $32 million more than the KISS bassist sold it for in 2021.
For one thing, the interior footprint has increased by about 3,000 square feet, according to last week’s listing with Douglas Elliman. The makeover was helmed by NOBEL Architecture and Interior Design, and the home now boasts a dark gray color palette with wood and other accents throughout.
That includes natural Italian marble for the flooring on the main level, custom-made stone, oak and wood panels, and bespoke brass elements, the listing said.
Now about 16,390 square feet, the mansion has a double-height entry with a cathedral ceiling, industrial-inspired lighting and walls of windows, as well as iron doors leading outside. Of course, this being California, the residence has an open floor plan that leads outside to the nearly 2-acre grounds, the listing said.
There’s also a chef’s kitchen with Poliform cabinetry, Gaggenau appliances, two marble islands and a breakfast nook.
The home has seven bedrooms, including two primary suites, and 11 bathrooms. The owner’s bedroom area offers a balcony, a sitting room and custom closets, plus a bathroom with an open double shower and a transparent, amber-colored tub.
There’s also a media room, a 60-by-20-foot pool, an outdoor barbecue area with space for up to 30 guests, plus parking on the grounds to accommodate them. There’s also a 10-car garage with the option for lifts—which would give it space for 20 vehicles—and a three-car garage attached to the main house.
The home is being sold furnished with items from Minotti, Henge and Baxter, and a smart-home system.
Mr. Simmons, one of the founding members of KISS, the rockers instantly recognizable because of their white-and-black makeup and known for hits like “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” acquired the residence in 1984 for $1.35 million, according to property records.
It was listed for years, originally asking $25 million, and got a number of price cuts before it sold for $16 million in October 2021. The rocker put about $12 million into the home before it sold, Mansion Global reported at the time.
Mr. Simmons made headlines for another real estate sale in March, offloading his Las Vegas pad for $11 million, Mansion Global reported.
