Team news

Here is all the news we know about the two teams heading into their titanic final clash.

Manchester United team news:

Erik Ten Hag revealed that Harry Maguire is out of the FA Cup final.

Maguire has missed the last four games with a muscle problem and Ten Hag confirmed ‘it didn’t heal as expected’.

That means Lisandro Martinez is set to partner Raphael Varane in central defence against Manchester City at Wembley after both players recovered from injury.

United also expect Mason Mount, Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof to be available after all three players returned to training this week.

Manchester City team news:

As for the defending champions, they will be out their number one, Ederson through injury. The Sky Blue of Manchester won’t be too concerned over the Brazilians absence as cup sepcialist Stefan Ortega is expected to slot into the starting eleven.

Other than that City have no new injury concerns and Kovacic may come back into the squad as he was rested by Guardiola in the last game of the Premier League against West Ham.

City will be without their number one after he suffered an injury in his side’s Premier League clash against Tottenham

What happens if Manchester United win the FA Cup?

Although many have already counted Ten Hag’s men out of the final, they could still do the unlikely and stun the City crowd in Wembley, which would result in them claiming a spot in Europe next summer.

Ten Hag will be putting his best eleven forward on Saturday afternoon as a lot lies on this final.

The Dutch manager will not only be eager to get the one over on their bitter rivals but he knows that a win on Saturday would mean that the Red Devils would be playing in the Europa League next season.

Ten Hag’s future will be in real jeopardy if his side can’t manage to come up with a victory against Manchester City, after he lead his side to their worst Premier League finish in the club’s history.

A win on Sunday could make the Dutch manager safe and no longer at risk of departing the club.

Erik Ten Hag can still salvage Manchester United’s season as a win over City would secure them a spot in Europe next season
