For those looking for a temporary taste of nobility, this palatial English country house, available to rent for £16,000 (US$20,008) per month, might satisfy that craving.
The wider Lydney Park Estate in Gloucestershire, close to the Welsh border and roughly 30 miles from Bristol, has been owned by the same family since the early 1700s, and they built the commanding residence at its center, according to estate agency Savills, which put the property on the rental market in mid April.
Lydney Park Mansion is an “exquisite” country house, said Sam Pagett of Savills Cheltenham.
Mansion Global couldn’t identify the owner of the home.
Spanning more than 17,000 square feet, the 15-bedroom house offers a charming combination of old and new and a “feeling of grandeur and heritage,” Pagett said. There are features like wood-paneled walls, ornate ceilings and grand fireplaces, alongside a sleek contemporary kitchen with twin kitchen islands, a recently renovated family room and a self-contained two-bedroom apartment.
Outside, the grounds, which are open to paying public visitors during the spring a couple of days each week, include formal gardens with fountains, terraces, parkland, an 8-acre patch of woodland and plenty of grazing deer.
“Properties such as this one are a rarity in the rental market, certainly in this part of the country,” Pagett said.
