The former Manchester United star turned down the opportunity to join Inter Miami despite an invitation from Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi moved to Inter Miami after 2 seasons playing for PSG. According to SPORTbible (via Marca), the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion has called on his compatriots to come play with him at The Herons.
The Spanish publication also said that both Messi and Inter Miami coach Tata Martino tried to convince Rojo and another player at Boca Juniors, Cristian Medina. However, with Rojo reportedly telling Boca boss Juan Roman Riquelme: “I will stay” via Whatsapp, it means he is not about to join the Florida side with Messi.
According to the above source, Rojo also rejected the interest of another Brazilian team, Palmeiras. He will stay at Boca even though the team did not qualify for the Copa Libertadores in 2024.

Rojo is currently playing for the Argentine team Boca Juniors. The player recently told his team about his future when his contract expires in 2025. The Argentine player has played at Man United since from 2014 to 2020, appearing 122 times in all competitions, contributing 2 goals and 4 assists.
Lionel Messi and the former Manchester United defender played 45 matches together with Argentina. Inter Miami’s captain assisted Rojo once during the above period.
Rojo has not played for Argentina since the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where La Albiceleste were eliminated in the round of 16. Since then, he has featured in two friendlies in 2019, with his latest appearance coming in a 2-2 away draw with Germany in October of that year.
While Rojo did not win anything with the national team, losing in three finals (FIFA World Cup 2014, Copa America 2015-16), he did win the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League with Manchester United.
