Margot Robbie is not set to return as signature character Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad sequel according to a new report from Forbes.
The 28-year-old Australian actress was also rumored to be starring as the psychotic villain in a standalone film with Jared Leto who plays the Joker but that has also been scrapped claims the publication.
The 47-year-old 30 Seconds To Mars frontman was also reported to have his own solo film as well but it seems as if that also has fallen by the wayside.

Forbes contributor Mark Hughes wrote: ‘The Suicide Squad sequel, meanwhile, is moving forward as a sort of soft reboot to some extent, and is expected to have a new cast of characters and avoid direct tie-in to the first film’s events.
‘Harley Quinn is not expected to return, and James Gunn’s script will be a new approach and rethinking of the property.
‘The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad.’

There is also a Joaquin Phoenix Joker film which is set for release in October which is intended to be the first in a series of films separate from the shared DC Extended Universe.
There have been plenty of shake-ups in the DC cinematic universe as of late as last month it was reported that fired Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn was ‘in talks’ to direct the Suicide Squad sequel he was already hired by Warner Bros. to write.
If true, the supervillain flick – hitting theaters in August 2021 – would mark the disgraced 52-year-old’s successful crossover from the Marvel Comics universe to the DC Comics universe.
‘It’s not being labeled a direct sequel but as a relaunch,’ a source told THR.

‘Gunn’s focus is to take the franchise in a new direction with a mostly all-new cast of characters and actors. The project is very much rooted in Gunn’s vibe, as seen in the Guardians movies.’
Robbie and Leto are not the only big name Suicide Squad cast members reported to be leaving the franchise as Ben Affleck is officially out for Warner Bros.’ upcoming superhero movie The Batman, a project Affleck was once set to star in, write and direct.
There had been rumors for months that Affleck was leaving the franchise, but last month it was reported by Deadline that The Batman will focus on a ‘younger Bruce Wayne.’
Affleck made his DC Extended Universe (DCEU) debut as the Caped Crusader in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while making a cameo in 2016’s Suicide Squad and then starring in 2017’s Justice League.
