Real Madrid midfielder limps off injured during France vs Chile

Real Madrid sent multiple players on international duty as the last national team-call-up of the season went underway this fortnight.

While the first round of games went as they would have hoped, with no injuries or risks facing the team, the second round of fixtures have already hit Madrid with a huge blow.

That is because Eduardo Camavinga has come off injured while playing for France against Chile in a friendly. The midfielder seemingly twisted his ankle, and had to be substituted off before the first-half ended.

This was the second injury that happened in this game, with Jonathan Clauss also having to come off in the 11th minute, with Barcelona defender Jules Kounde replacing him as the right-back.

Implications for Madrid

Camavinga has been a vital player for Madrid during the second-half of the season, especially, with Carlo Ancelotti finding his ideal midfield trio.

The Italian coach has opted to use Camavinga, Toni Kroos, and Federico Valverde as his gala trident. This dynamic works perfectly for Madrid, with all players adept at playing roles in advanced positions and also deeper.

While Aurelien Tchouameni is very much part of the team still, he has filled in as a centre-back on multiple occasions recently due to the injury crisis in defence.

And while no timeline has been reported for Camavinga’s injury this early, he could miss the game against Athletic Club this weekend, and also the first-leg clash against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Madrid will be hoping that the Frenchman is able to make it back in time for the reverse fixture that will take place at the Etihad Stadium.

Real Madrid are also dealing with injuries to Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, and David Alaba — all of whom tore their ACL this season.
