Tyson Fury’s planned return to the ring against a familiar foe has been shot down by a British boxing star who almost signed him.
Expected to snap his fifth career retirement at the turn of the year, former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been most prominently linked to an overdue pairing with Anthony Joshua.
However, set to snub a highly anticipated showdown with the Watford star, potentially, Fury has other plans on his mind.
But the plans in question have drawn flak from a rival promoter, who claims the targeted pairing should be of no “interest” to any boxing fan.

Eddie Hearn blasts Tyson Fury’s plan to fight Oleksandr Usyk again
Despite suffering back-to-back decision clashes with the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk last year in his bid to become undisputed heavyweight champion, Fury is not giving up the ghost on that rivalry.
So much so, in fact, the Morecambe native is targeting a trilogy pairing with the Ukrainian, despite his losing record against the megastar.
Seemingly drawing the ire of Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn in his bid to get Fury in the ring against his long-time client Joshua, the Dagenham native claims the former likely has no business in the ring with Usyk.
“Just like the reality is, Tyson Fury’s coming off two defeats,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “The trilogy being 2-0 down is not really something that happens a lot.
Eddie Hearn has his say as Tyson Fury eyes a return to boxing next year, targeting a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk, rather than a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua… 🤔🤨 pic.twitter.com/SZjHYXpMlC

“No one’s interested in Fury against Usyk, no one’s interested in AJ against Usyk, they’ve seen it twice and it was the same result both times,” Hearn continued. “People are interested in AJ against Fury.”
Anthony Joshua urged to ruin Oleksandr Usyk’s comeback
Providing his own update on retirement plans this weekend, Usyk claimed there is still some considerable life in his own illustrious career.
And expected to fight the WBO mandatory challenger in his immediate comeback from a back injury, Usyk has a definitive outing available to him.
However, as far as a veteran boxing analyst is concerned, it would prove a shrewd move from Joshua to pursue a clash with Usyk’s planned rival in a bid to kickstart his own career again.
