‘It’s obvious’ – Fans split as Conor McGregor posts boxing sparring footage, including famous Floyd Mayweather uppercut

Conor McGregor has taken to social media to post new clips of himself doing some boxing sparring recently.

The UFC sensation is seemingly now finally nearing a return to action, having not fought since 2021 due to injury.

McGregor’s last, and only, professional boxing match to date came against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

At that time, the MMA star crossed over for an incredibly lucrative super fight.

Of course, Mayweather ultimately emerged victorious, stopping the Irishman in round ten.

But McGregor had moments of success early on while the American sat back and bided his time.

Most famously, McGregor landed a big uppercut which caught Mayweather off guard.

The punch did not seriously trouble Mayweather, but undoubtedly got his attention.

In the three short sparring clips McGregor posted on Thursday night, he could be seen using this shot again.

He returned to his old amateur gym Crumlin Boxing Club for the session with an unknown sparring partner.

And fans were divided by the footage.

One said: “The guy he’s sparring must be his personal chef or Proper Twelve Employee because this is not real work.

While a second wrote: “Doesn’t look that good tbh.”

And a third fan simply put: “Awful.”

In contrast though, one fan commented: “He looks good.”

And another put: “I like that looping lead hand upper cut.”

A third fan said: “His technique off but he’s a natural boxer it’s obvious.”

And a fourth wrote: “Dude’s got a helluva a left hand! It’s still one of the cleanest punches ever hit on Floyd! I’m actually surprised Floyd didn’t get stunned goes that was a flush as it gets!”
