Carl Froch has a new theory as to why Tyson Fury deciding to retire from boxing.

Fury recently lost for a second consecutive time to Oleksandr Usyk in December last year, being outpointed to his dismay as he believed he’d done enough to get his revenge.

The ‘Gypsy King’ still was believed to have opportunities on the table including bouts with Anthony Joshua in 2025, but elected to announce his decision to hang up his gloves.

Despite having made a U-turn on decisions to retire in three previous instances, Fury has yet to indicate he will do so again this year.

He has since been spending time with his family and wife Paris, enjoying life outside of gruelling training camps which is said to be his main reason for retiring.

But Froch has claimed that it is actually Fury’s anger after losing to Usyk again, which sparked his decision to end his boxing future.

“He [Fury] has retired because deep down, he knows he is probably past his best and lost two fights [against Usyk],” he said on his YouTube channel.

“And I know personally he is p*****. I spoke to somebody close to his team, and he’s really frustrated and p***** off that he lost the rematch.

“But he did lose and lost fair and square. I think Usyk did enough to win.

“It was a close fight, but it wasn’t very entertaining, not like the first one where there were moments of excitement, and not a lot happened.

“He shouldn’t have any complaints apart from the frustration that he didn’t go for it.”

And the British heavyweight was of course frustrated given Usyk is the only heavyweight to have beaten him in his professional career, albeit twice.

He is now 36-years-old and is in the twilight years of his career.

But is widely considered by many as the second best heavyweight in the division currently, given his brave performances against the sensational Ukrainian.

An offer will likely still be on the table for Fury if he does want to make a future return, particularly for two fights with Joshua.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh intends to hold talks with the Morecambe native over his future, with a view to bringing him back into the sport.

But his promoter Frank Warren believes he will only make a comeback because he is a fighting warrior.

“I’ve not bothered him and I’ve certainly not spoken to him about fighting again,” he told the Ariel and Ade show.

“And if he does, that’s got to be his choice. He’s a very, very wealthy guy, he’s made a serious amount of money.

“He doesn’t need, financially, to fight. If he does fight, it’s because he’s got a fighting heart.

“Obviously he’ll get well paid if he does fight. But he’s got a fighting heart.”
