Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho has returned to the big screen with Mickey 17, a sci-fi film starring Robert Pattinson. This marks Bong’s first feature since his critically acclaimed 2019 film Parasite. Scheduled to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in March, Mickey 17 is adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel and follows the story of a man assigned to colonize the icy planet Niflheim. At a press conference in Seoul, Bong Joon Ho and Robert Pattinson shared insights into the film’s production. Bong addressed the challenges of creating distinctive stories in an era increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence. As reported by Screen Daily, the director revealed that he often contemplates how to write screenplays that AI cannot replicate. He emphasized the importance of including unpredictable and inventive elements in his work, referring to them as his own “move 78.”
