Ben Whittaker has had his boxing return officially confirmed for November 29 in Brimingham.
Whittaker recently secured his revenge over recent rival Liam Cameron in April this year to get his glittering career back on track.
But his contract with promoter Ben Shalom and BOXXER expired, which saw ‘The Surgeon’ look for alternative representation.
He ultimately decided to sign with Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn, in one of the most high-profile moves of the year.
And the outfit wanted to get Whittaker back into the squared circle before the end of the year.
Gavazi has a record of 19-1 in his professional career, and the pair will meet for the WBC silver light-heavyweight title.
There will be sterner tests to come for Whittaker who is hoping to push through the gears in the coming years, to fulfil his promising ambitions.
But is a good opposition to work away any cobwebs and put down a statement in the Midlands on home soil.
On his plans for the coming months, Whittaker said: ““I’ve only had 10 fights but I’ve learned a lot and the good thing is I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in those 10 fights.
As promised, Whittaker’s next outing has now been announced, a showdown with German contender Benjamin Gavazi.
“I think that little bit of experience I’ve got from those will take me far in my career.
“In the amateurs, I did everything. World medals, European medals, Olympic medals, but nothing is like the pro game. I think I’m ready for it.
“I think activity is key. I need to just stay in the ring. That’s when you learn and that’s when you put the performances on.
“So for me, an active year and hopefully a great year for me.”

In the eyes of Whittaker, he believes he is destined for superstardom and world title shots.
The flamboyant and confident Briton had a stellar amateur career, winning a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games.
After turning professional, his fights caught the eye several times over.
But his first meeting with Liam Cameron threatened to place a dark cloud over his career, as the pair tumbled out of the ring and the bout ended in a controversial draw.
After getting back on track, many have tipped Whittaker to reach the top of the sport and become another of many pay-per-view stars.
And Matchroom CEO Frank Smith revealed to talkSPORT, that it will be a four fight year for Whittaker before any push to world level.
He revealed: “In the next 12 to 14 months, we are going to give him four fights.
“He hasn’t really had the momentum in his career up until now.
“He has had 10 fights in the last three years. But over the next 14 months, we are going to build him in the right manner.
“And then in early 2027, we can start pushing on with those world title opportunities.

“People are interested in watching him, whether you like or dislike him, people will sit down and watch him.”
