Adrian Newey set to earn $100,000,000 salary after signing contract with Red Bull’s rival

Adrian Newey is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal with Aston Martin, and the British team is prepared to pay a substantial $100 million for his services. Newey’s potential move to Aston Martin has been a hot topic in the racing world for some time, and it seems like a deal with the team is imminent.

Since Red Bull announced Newey’s exit in May this year, teams have jumped in to secure the aero wizard’s services. Ferrari and Aston Martin were the front-runners among them. However, as things stand, Lawrence Stroll’s team seems to have the upper hand for now.

Robert Doornbos, a former F1 driver, in his recent LinkedIn post, unraveled the intricate details of the Adrian Newey deal. He informed that after Ferrari’s negotiations with the British engineer fell through, Aston Martin tried to wrap up the deal and offer Newey a contract he would not refuse.

“Newey was Aston Martin’s top priority, and the deal is now finalized,” Doornbos wrote. “Set to earn $100 million over three years, twice his Red Bull salary, Newey will have major inputs in technical decisions.””Aston Martin with it’s state-of-the-art factory completed last year, likely attracted him with it’s advanced technology, including a new wind tunnel. The official announcement is expected in September,” he added.

Newey’s addition is likely to push Aston Martin on an upward trajectory after all, as he is one of the most successful F1 engineers in the sport’s history and was the primary man behind Red Bull’s recent dominance in the Ground Effect era.

With Fernando Alonso, who is set to remain in the team till 2026, Aston Martin also made an ambitious bid for Max Verstappen. If the Dutchman decides to work with Newey again, Lawrence Stroll’s team would be the next big contender for the world championship under the next regulations.

Doornbos explained why Adrian Newey’s deal with Ferrari fell off

When Red Bull announced Adrian Newey’s exit, Ferrari was the front-runner to secure his services. Frederic Vasseur, under whom Ferrari was reportedly going through a structural overhaul, wanted to bring in the Briton to ramp up their technical departments.

However, the deal now seemed to have fallen off, and there are multiple reasons behind it. As per Doornbos, Newey demanded a double salary of what he earned at Red Bull. With this, he also wanted more flexibility with the team’s technical department.

However, the top brass of the Prancing Horse felt the demands were too much and decided to call off the negotiations. Besides this, the paddock chatter also suggests that Newey is unwilling to move to Maranello, Italy, from the United Kingdom.
