Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones List Their New York Estate for $12 Million

This star-studded home in New York’s Hudson Valley might be the perfect fit for you if you’ve always desired to live the life of a Hollywood power couple! The Wall Street Journal was the first to disclose that the actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, who are married, own a gorgeous 12-acre spread in the coastal village of Irvington. They are asking $12 million for it. David Turner from Compass is the owner of the listing.

The pre-war estate, which is highlighted by a four-story Georgian-style house with eight en-suite bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in a little over 11,600 square feet of four-level living space accented with stylishly modern interiors warmed by numerous fireplaces, is said to have cost Zeta-Jones herself $4.5 million in 2019, according to records.

Originally constructed in 1929 and formerly inhabited by wealthy sugar merchants Charles Lewis Tiffany, the founder of Tiffany & Co., and the Matthiessen family, the stately brick and stone structure underwent extensive renovations during the couple’s tenure. Among its many features are a handsome oak-paneled library that connects to a two-story library and a salon with its own bar. A relaxation space, a gym, a kitchenette, and a heated indoor pool measuring twenty-one feet are situated next to three sizable arched windows on the bottom floor.

The formal living and dining rooms, the brick-lined kitchen with an eat-in island and upscale stainless equipment, and the family room that opens up to it are some of the other highlights. A luxurious master suite features a private sitting area, a walk-in closet akin to a showroom, and an opulent bathroom highlighted by a marble-clad soaking tub. Outside, the park-like grounds feature a 100-foot terrace with steps that descend to a grass and stone sitting area as well as 130 feet of waterfront on the Hudson River. Additionally, a four-car garage is attached.

Per WSJ, Zeta-Jones is selling because the couple’s son and daughter have both left the nest and work commitments are taking her overseas. “When I purchased our Irvington home I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have,” she says, adding that they plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe.

The well-known duo in show business—she for her Oscar-winning performance in Chicago, and he for his leading parts in Wall Street and Fatal Attraction, the latter of which brought him a best-actor Oscar—had lived in a 20,000-square-foot mansion in Bedford, New York, which Zeta-Jones had sold for $20.5 million a few years prior. A few years back, Douglas, who manages his own real estate portfolio, advertised their Manhattan condo on Central Park West for $21.5 million; however, it has since been taken off the market.
